Nursing Faves with Bamboobies

I have talked about my love for Bamboobies before, and now that I have been nursing for a month, I’m here to tell you my favorites products and why! I am blessed that nursing has come easy for me, but really great products make it even easier. Since the hospital, I have lived, and I mean lived 24/7, in these nursing tanks. They are soft, so comfortable (not too tight or too loose), and the perfect amount of support. I don’t want to put anything else on.

Their nursing pads are also my favorite. The reusable ones are SO SOFT and “cutesy”, not that it matters, but it helps! And the disposable ones are the perfect size and don’t get all gross after 2 seconds.

The last product that is a must have for me is their boob ease nipple balm. I don’t use it as much as I did my first 2 weeks postpartum, but it is something all nursing mama’s need! I love that it isn’t thick and sticky, and it really helps ease the pain.

Bamboobies totally has us nursing mom’s covered, and they know what they are doing! They can be found at your local Target, and online. You should follow them on IG too, because they always post little sales they are having that you wouldn’t otherwise know about! Go you nursing mama, go!

As Seen On Shark Tank…Tranquilo Mat!

Shark Tank products are just my favorite. Especially baby gear! When I saw the episode with Tranquilo Mat, I knew I had to have it! The Tranquilo Mat is a soothing mat that mimics the sounds and motions of a mother’s womb. So cool and innovative, and USEFUL! There is actual science behind this product, and was invented by a “crying baby” specialist, who saw a need.

Saylor loved to use the mat before her baby sis came, haha.

Remi likes being held and the mat held against her back. It really is soothing and comforting, I wish they came in adult size, haha! I saw on their social media the other day that they are coming out with cute patterned covers (!!!), so be on the look out for those! I highly recommend this mat, especially for our little babes that have trouble adjusting to the outside world!

Shop and learn about the Tranquilo Mat HERE.

Happy almost weekend!

Men’s Giveaway with Jord Wood Watches!

Okay ladies…this one is for that man in your life! For Father’s Day, I thought this would be the perfect giveaway. Most men appreciate nice watches, and Jord fits the mold. Their watches are modern, timeless, and are made from wood. Super cool, right?

Luxury Wooden Watch

Momsense

As a new mom again, I’m learning about all sorts of new baby companies. Companies with products I had no idea that I needed. You NEED so much stuff as a Mom! If you are nursing or have nursed before, you understand me when I say that I worry if my baby is getting enough. With Saylor, I took measures to ensure I was (over) producing, because I didn’t want to starve my baby! This time around I understand my body a little bit better, but how are you ever sure that your baby is getting enough?

One of my friends told me about Momsense…this handy little gadget that lets you listen while your baby nurses, then sends you information to your smart phone on your nursing session. It records the baby swallowing, lets you know how long they nurse for, and the quantity consumed on each side. You hook it up to your phone and everything is kept track of on their app. It is so simple, and really helps put your mind at ease.

Momsense is on sale for a killer price right now, only $49. It is normally $89 so it really is a good deal. I highly recommend this product, especially if you are wanting to know how much your baby has nursed!

I feel like this blog took me 18 hours to write up and post…I am THAT tired. 3 weeks of only getting 5ish hours of sleep is finally catching up to me! I’m not (really) complaining haha, I just forgot what it was like to not get good sleep! I know it won’t last forever so I am really trying to appreciate those quiet, middle of the night moments with Remi and I. Thanks for all your love and support and patience, being a Mom to more than 1 is no joke! Happy weekend!

On The Night You Were Born

As Remi gets close to 2 weeks old, I figured I better sit down and write out her birth story before #mombrain enters full effect. It seems so long ago already, and I can’t believe it has already came and went. I was beyond ready to not be pregnant, and I still can’t believe that I am not anymore! This post is for my own documenting purposes, and I hope that I don’t upset or offend anyone with my story.

So, rewind to about a month ago at my 38 week appointment. I was 3cm dilated and DONE. So uncomfortable, not sleeping, swollen, just ready to have this baby. I asked the midwife casually how long they would let me go over before they would induce me, and she says, “Oh…you have rights you know. Since this isn’t your first baby we can induce you a week early if you would like.” SAY WHAT?! That was music to my ears and just what I wanted to hear. I told her I would talk to my husband and see what he thought, and possibly even pick a day to be induced! What a dream! Lol. So I call Troy and we decide on Thursday, May 25th. That’s a good date. My half birthday, even. So they call me the night before and let me know that I am “on call” (whatever that means) until 10am, and if I don’t hear from them by then to call the hospital. 9:30am rolls around and I get the call! Be here at 10:30! It still didn’t feel real, even as we were walking up to the hospital it didn’t seem real that I was going to have a baby soon.

So by 11:30am I am checked into my room and speaking with the midwives. Pitocin was about to be started, and I chose to hold off on the epidural until things started progressing. I delivered at Mountain Point for those who live in Utah, and I HIGHLY recommend it. I had the best experience there, the hospital is beautiful, the nurses were amazing, and my midwives were awesome. I couldn’t have planned out a better experience. Anyways! Pitocin gets started and it’s pretty uneventful for a 2 hours or so. I think I progressed to a 4, maybe 5, and I was having a good rhythm of contractions, they just weren’t super painful. 3pm hits and I decide to get my epidural so they can break my water. I did not want to feel that! That all goes well, and then about 30 minutes later my blood pressure drops super low. Like 70’s over something. I wasn’t showing any symptoms thankfully, but they wanted to wait to break my water until that came up.

They break my water (they had to do it twice), and it was nothing like I expected. My water broke naturally with Saylor, so that is what I had to compare it to, but I didn’t even know they broke it haha. Epidurals are amazing. Highly recommend. I’m still not progressing as quickly as they’d like, so I’m rolling around and laying with things between my legs to try and get this baby to drop the last little bit.

Then probably around 8:30pm or so, I started getting the feeling! You know, the feeling like you need to poop, haha. I was trying so hard to hold it in because you feel like you have no control over your body and I was nervous about what is was doing. Luckily I didn’t poop, but that meant it was go time! The rest of the time and events are kind of a blur. The midwives and nurse came in and got everything ready to go, were talking to me about what I needed to do and whatnot. Troy was able to put gloves on and actually help deliver the baby which was really cool. Remi Rowe was born at 9:19pm after pushing through only a few contractions. She was able to lay on my chest for a good chunk of time before they took her and cleaned her off, and they delayed the cord clamping. I had such a wonderful experience with my midwives, I would highly recommend looking into having one if you haven’t before! Remi was healthy, so cute, and came out ready to nurse.

She was born COVERED in that white stuff…so weird! Saylor had hardly any so it was new to us.

She seemed so much smaller than Saylor was, even though it was only a few ounces. She wasn’t as swollen as Saylor and didn’t have as much hair. Her features are also smaller. She’s so cute!

Saylor coming to meet Remi is something I’ll never forget. She has been so excited to have a baby sister and was so excited that she was finally “out of my tummy”! She’s been so gentle and loving with her, it is so sweet.

We stayed 2 days in the hospital and went home around lunchtime on Saturday. I was anxious to get home and be in my own bed and space, but I almost didn’t want to leave the hospital, haha.

I am so glad sweet Remi has joined our family, and that Saylor has a sister. I love my little family and am so thankful for my happy and healthy girls!

First Week Favorites

Holy cow I can’t believe it has already been a week since our sweet Remi has joined our family. The days and nights have sort of blurred together, and I’m starting to remember what it is like to function on little to no sleep. But I wouldn’t change her being here for anything! I am so grateful to have had a smooth labor and delivery, and the recovery has been fairly good considering what my body just went through, haha. I’m always hesitant to say I’m doing good, because “good” is a broad term and no one really wants to hear what is going on! One day soon I will sit down and write out my birth story. Until then, here are a few products I have enjoyed using this past week.

Nursing tank and boob ease nipple balm from Bamboobies. Life savers.

¬†Swaddle blanket from Copper Pearl. It’s the perfect size, and stretchy so it keeps Remi tight and cozy!

¬†Tranquilo Mat…so amazing! It vibrates and soothes Remi and it is just really cool and handy. It was on Shark Tank…definitely check them out.

¬†This MomSense breastfeeding meter. It really is helpful and so cool. It listens to your baby swallow and can let you know how much your baby is eating. It’s been especially comforting to use in the beginning, when you are worried about if your baby is getting enough!

Also, a nursing reminder bracelet from NursElet. It has proven to be helpful in reminding me which side I last nursed on, especially in the middle of the night when I don’t know what is going on, haha!

MAJOR points go to Parasol Co for their amazing diapers and wipes. Their wipes are slightly larger than most, and don’t tear! I love them. We haven’t had any blowouts in the diapers and they come in the cutest prints.

Let me know some of your favorite products that you found yourself using or your newborns! Talk soon…

Afternoon Fun!

{Thank you Jane for sponsoring this post!}

Have you guys heard of jane.com? It is a daily deal site where you can score some really awesome things for such a good price! I’ve been a customer for years, and I’m excited to share what I love about them with you. Jane offers daily deals that run for only 72 hours and can be up to 80% off. I love that they continuously have new products and if you snooze, you lose! I have purchased all sorts of things from them…clothing, stuff for Saylor, bath and home items…you name it, they probably carry it or will at some point. Today Saylor and I spent time outside playing with these little pebble things that grow when you place them in water. I don’t even know what they are called, haha, but I’m sure you know what I am talking about.

The directions were in another language so I wasn’t exactly sure how much water to add, but that is what’s nice about these things, you can’t really mess them up. We would check them every 20/30 minutes and add a little bit more water to help them grow.

These have been entertaining her all night! I just hope I don’t find them all over my house over the next few days…oops!

I also got a really cute floral shirt from Jane.com that isn’t available anymore, but if you check right now they have so many cute tee’s that are perfect for summer. Such good prices too, you seriously can’t pass up their deals!

Happy Tuesday!

New Shoes with Pediped

How fun is it to get new shoes? I remember shoe shopping when I was little, and being so excited to wear my new shoes everywhere. I hope that Saylor feels that way too, and that she always wants to wear cute shoes LOL. It was time to get her a new pair of sandals for summer, and I wanted something that would last and actually support her little feet and be comfortable! Pediped¬†is known for being supremely comfortable, long lasting, and actually cute! I gave Saylor about 4 different pairs to choose from, and she picked the Flex Lynn Gold and I couldn’t have been more happy!

They fit perfect and the gold goes with so much! Saylor can put them on by herself, too, which she loves!

Remember Pediped next time you need a new pair of shoes for your kiddos!

How to Choose the Right Car Seat with The Baby Cubby

Ok if anyone is like me, the thought of having to purchase a new car seat is daunting. I like to think that I am knowledgeable when it comes to baby gear and safety, but picking the right one for my family was overwhelming! I had a few narrowed down in my mind that I wanted to checkout first hand before I made the purchase, so down I went to the Baby Cubby. If you are in Utah, you know how great they are! There I was able to get my hands on the ones I wanted to see, check them out, and even try them out in my car! The staff are all very helpful and educated, as well!

First one up was the Maxi Cosi Mico Max 30. Super lightweight and top in safety.

Next was the Nuna Pipa car seat. Very comparable to the Maxi Cosi, and slightly more $$.

Love the look of them both!

 The car seat wall!

Another one I wanted to checkout was the Britax B Safe. Love Britax but decided it was a bit too deep and wanted to switch it up from last time!

I really loved both of them and the colors/fabrics that they came in.

At the end, I chose the Maxi Cosi and I’m very happy with my decision! It is so light weight, safe, and nice to look at. I can’t wait to break this puppy in. Okay actually I can wait, I’m terrified and so anxious to give birth but I’m excited to not be pregnant!

Another reason you should go to Baby Cubby immediately (if you are local!), they have the best area for kids to play in while you shop. Saylor loves every time we go in there and I am always the one waiting on her to finish playing!

You can also find a baby car seat buying guide HERE. It contains really helpful information all in one place. Let me know what car seats you have loved and what has worked best for your family!
