How To Make A Diaper Cake

…that isn’t that appealing to the eye, LOL! Note to self, next time I do this, make sure someone else is around to help. Having only one set of hands proved to make things difficult.

So I’m going to my girlfriends baby shower tomorrow, and last minute decided to make a diaper cake. Because, why not? I have never made one before, so I hit up Google, and went off of the tutorial found HERE. I didn’t have rubber bands at home, and didn’t feel like going to the store for them, so I planned to use twine to tie the layers together.

Baby Shower Gift Guide!

Does anyone feel like they are really good at giving baby shower gifts? I do! Haha, honestly though, being a mom has made me really aware of what to give for gifts. Before having Saylor, I was a big giver of clothes, which don’t get me wrong, clothes are amazing to get because, duh, our babies need clothes! But, now I give gifts based on a few things. First, necessary things that you will need for a long time (IE diapers, wipes, diaper bag!). And second, things that you wouldn’t necessarily buy for yourself, things that you wouldn’t think you need, or things that you may not have heard of (IE DockATot, Solly wrap, Milestone Cards).

New Shoes for School!

Growing up, back to school shopping was always the best, right? Well now that I have a daughter that is in (pre)school, I get to do some back to school shopping! Not that you really “need” anything at 3 years old, but it is still so fun to get new things!

Have you guys heard of pediped? Back when Saylor was first starting to walk, I was introduced to them. They are known for being the best flexible, soft-soled infant shoes to learn to walk in. They have a wide range of different styles, and are exceptional quality. We love our “Silver Shoes” as Saylor calls them, and I love that I don’t worry about her little feet being uncomfortable. Be sure to check out my Instagram where you can win your own pair!

Reading & Bookroo!

What mom doesn’t love books and reading? Saylor has always loved to “read” from the time she was just a little babe. Even though our babies may not be able to understand what we read to them, or read by themselves, science has proven that it is so important! It literally gets their little brains going, creates imagination and memories, and can increase their little vocabularies.

When I discovered Bookroo, I knew that it was something Saylor and I could enjoy together. It is a monthly book subscription, ran by actual mom’s! Who get it! Sometimes picking up books and going to the library can be inconvenient, so subscribing to Bookroo is a new brainer. I also immediately thought that this would be a great baby shower gift for someone who needs to grow their collection! Look at how cute the packaging is…you know I appreciate good packaging!

Easy DIY Fluffy Slime!

Are you looking for something fun to do with your kids? I have the perfect thing for you. Saylor has been into that gross fart slime lately, so I knew this was perfect for us. This video (see HERE) showed up in my FB feed and I thought it seemed totally easy to do! No weird ingredients. All you need is:

In the original video I went off of, they made a huge batch, so I cut that in half. The amount of slime that I made was perfect for 2 kids, and would have worked well for up to 4 in my opinion. All you do is:

Our Nightly Routine!

Ever since Saylor was a newborn, we have given her a bath every night before bed. I don’t wash her hair every day, or even get it wet, but taking a bath became part of our routine early on.  Saylor has always loved the bath, and it’s been a great way to get the last of her energy out, as well as getting clean before getting into bed. Want to know the best part of taking a bath? Getting out and putting on jammies! Seriously though, Say right out of the bath, dressed, with wet hair is my favorite!

Vitamins and More

I recently discovered Smarty Pants Vitamins and was so excited when they offered to send me some vitamins. I am always on the hunt for the best tasting ones (along side the nutritional value), not just for me, but for Saylor too. She is the pickiest little girl when it comes to chewy, gummy things, so when I tried these I KNEW instantly that these were something she would enjoy!

I received the 3 bottles pictured here. I tried a few of them and can honestly say they are the best tasting gummy vitamins I have had! They don’t have a weird aftertaste and they don’t have a weird consistency. Each bottle has different ingredients, carefully thought out and determined based off what each one of us needs. If you have any questions regarding Smarty Pants Vitamins, they can be found HERE.

The Constant, Unavoidable Question…

…”Sooooo, when are you having another baby?”

<insert eye roll>  Am I right?

As I was sitting here minding my own business, watching Laguna Beach reruns for the umpteenth time, I get a random text from an old friend asking when I was going to give Saylor a sibling.  Seriously?!  No “Hi! How ya doing?!” first??!!  Shoot straight, why don’t ya?

I can’t tell you how many times I have been asked this since Saylor has been born.  She just turned 3! Give me a break!  One thing that I learned from becoming a mom is that what you thought and planned when you were younger, goes out the window.  2 year age gap sounds perfect right?  The thought of getting and being pregnant when Saylor was barely a year old soon became comical to me.  I couldn’t imagine!

Back To (PRE)School!

For those of you with older kids, this is all routine and old news to you. But to others with their first kid, like myself, starting (pre)school in the fall, I thought it would be fun to put together a small list of some back to school essentials! Obviously in preschool they don’t need much of anything, but here are some fun idea’s of a few things they might need.

  1. A BACKPACK! Of course. I try to steer clear of character anything (sorry, Saylor!), but I love these animal SkipHop Backpacks from Target. One thing that Saylor’s teacher told me, and I wouldn’t have even thought about it, was to send them with a full sized backpack, or at least big enough for papers to fit in it. Littles can get frustrated with trying to cram everything in there.

2. NEW OUTFIT…duh! This is the best part. Gap has a ton of cute stuff right now, and they always have good sales.

Shoes, Dress, Top, Jeans

A Dad’s First Blog

I can’t remember a time that I didn’t look forward to having kids.  Growing up the question wasn’t whether or not I wanted kids, but how many.  I realize now that that decision isn’t 100% up to me.  Robyn has informed me that we are not having the 11 kids I wanted for a football team.  Now that Saylor turned three earlier this week, I realized i couldn’t have had that many kids either and it’s for the simple reason of it would be too difficult.  When I say “difficult” though, it may be a little different than what you are thinking, let me explain.
