Christmas Traditions & Remembering Christ

I can’t believe Christmas is almost here! When you become a parent, it seems like holidays and such really sneak up on you. As Saylor is getting older, she is 4.5 now, I am realizing the importance of teaching her the true meaning of Christmas…that it isn’t just about Santa and getting gifts. (which as a 4 year old is honestly the best part!)

I was recently introduced to THIS website that focuses on Christmas traditions that are centered around Christ. They create crafts and things to do each night as family to remember Christ. THIS 25 Days of Christ set prompts you and your family to gather each night in December and focus on one part of the life of Jesus. It comes with a small ornament for each day to be a symbol of a story.

So this set that Saylor helped me add to our garland is the This is the Christ ornament set. It comes with 12 beautiful wooden ornaments that have a bible reference along with a biblical name for Christ. I thought that it would be a nice addition to the garland on our stairs.

You can find the set HERE. I used twine I had laying around to tie them up, and I think it turned out super cute. Everything come perfectly packaged and is very well made. They would make a wonderful, thoughtful gift!

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season, and take time out to remember the true meaning of the season.

Starting Solids with Nuby

Hi all! Remi turns 6 months on Saturday (what?!), so starting her on solids has been on my mind the last few weeks. We choose to skip cereals and just introduce her around 6 months. I had been looking for a few things to make feeding her easier, and I am here to share a few of my favorite things that I have found!

First is this E-Z Squee-z. I have loved this. It is a soft, squeezable silicon bottle that promotes self feeding and is easy for little hands to hold. I simply pour a small amount of pureed food in it and let Remi figure it out. We have used it a few times and it is cute to see her figure out bringing it to her mouth and chewing/sucking on it.

My older daughter Saylor has liked using this silicone placemat lately. It sticks to flat surfaces, is dishwasher safe, and she really likes the different sections. Once Remi starts eating more/different foods I will use this for her as well. It is really cute and convenient.

Last thing that is perfect for teething and introducing foods is this Garden Fresh Fruitsicle Tray. I love these! They are brilliantly designed. The handle that you hold is the perfect size, and they have a ring catcher thing around the actual popsicle part that is design to catch the drips as it melts. Such a good idea.

Starting foods with you baby is sort of bittersweet, it means they are growing, but it is also fun to have them try new things and learn. Be sure to follow me on Instagram @robynmeacham and enter my giveaway with Nuby!

Baby Shower Gift Idea’s for the New Mom

Hi all! I am sure we have all felt the pressure of finding a great gift for a new mom. Especially if you don’t have kids, it can be hard to know what is really needed and useful. Well I am here to let you in on a few products that are a sure hit.

(this face can be deceiving LOL)

I know when I was a new mom, creating my first baby registry, I didn’t think about putting things like diaper rash creams on it. There are many choices, and I didn’t even think about my baby getting a diaper rash, nonetheless what I would even do for it! After Saylor came, I quickly realized I needed something! Newborns poop literally all the time and their skin is so sensitive, it is pretty much inevitable. I so wish I had some Boudreaux’s Butt Paste® to help with my littles sore bum.

   (sore bum= grumpy baby)

Boudreaux’s Butt Paste® comes in 2, 4, and 16oz which is perfect for various situations. A large tub for the bathroom, or a small bottle for your diaper bag. It starts healing on contact, and protects the skin by forming an instant barrier. They have an Original and Maximum Strength, which is nice to always have options. All these products are available at Target which is just so, very convenient.

Be sure to head to my Instagram to enter my giveaway! Thank you to Boudreaux’s Butt Paste® for sponsoring this post.

My Experience with BodyBoss Fitness Guide

Hi all! As most of you know, working out is a STRUGGLE for me. To say the least! Especially after having Remi, I am still trying to figure out when the best time to shower and clean the house is, let alone squeeze a workout in. I love that there are so many “work out at home” options these days, so you don’t have to go anywhere, and you don’t need any fancy equipment. I was recently introduced to the BodyBoss Method. What it is is a Fitness Guide you follow…you workout 3 days a week, for 24 active minutes, and the program is 12 weeks. BodyBoss workouts include fun and challenging high intensity workouts. You may have heard of HIIT before, high intensity interval training, these circuits are key for maximum fat burning and power. They also have made a bonus 4 week pre-training program, which is so nice for people like me who are intimidated or not in shape to just jump right in!

I also like having the booklet on hand. It is easier for me to be able to hold and physically touch something, and go page by page. If that isn’t your thing, you can order the online version, which gives you access to everything online.

I wasn’t quite sure what I was expecting, but I knew 3 days a week sounded very doable. I found that working out in the morning is the best time for me…during the day gets too busy with two kids and if I work out at night, I don’t sleep…haha! Does anyone else have that problem? Each day you work out is focused on a different part of the body, legs one day, core another day, etc…and they also give you recommendations on how to do some easy cardio on the “rest” days, to get your heart rate up and stay active.

Another thing I like about working out from home is that I can do it with my babies at my side! Saylor isn’t in these pictures, but she likes to do some of the stretching and exercises with me, which makes it more fun for me. Remi also likes getting out of the house.

The Fitness Guide has been so helpful. At the back of the book it has photos and a description of all the exercises and stretches. I am a visual person so that really helps me, and lets me know if I am doing everything correct. I am anxious to see my results once I really get into it. I don’t really have any weight to lose, I just need to tone up and develop some muscle tone. There is a few pages in the fitness guide dedicated to tracking your goals, and how to stay motivated and what to look for. This BodyBoss program is perfect for the busy mom, the person who is intimidated by gyms, or the person who only has a few moments in their day to make count.

Let me know how you guys like to workout, and if you prefer working out not in a typical setting, I highly recommend you try BodyBoss! The tank I am wearing from them is also very soft and comfortable, FYI!

Remi’s Nursery Reveal

Well everyone, here it is! Remi’s room is still a work in progress, and at 4 months old, she still isn’t sleeping in there yet. Oh well! Seeing how Saylor never had a “real” nursery (we were in an apartment), I was excited to give Remi her own cute little space. I love girly, classic things and I think that shows in her room. I also wanted to find pieces that I could use for years, and possibly in other rooms down the road, not just as nursery decor.

Let Love Grow sign from August and April, floral headpiece from Mason & Harlow, moccs from Freshly Picked, crib sheet from Copper Pearl, crib from Wayfair, pouf from Target, and gorgeous wallpaper from Milton & King.

Acrylic shelves from Amazon, basket from Target, and mirror from Target.

Jute rug from Serena & Lily, shag rug and dresser from Ikea.

I can’t wait until Remi starts sleeping in her room and we get use out of her cute crib. I can’t believe how cheap I was able to find such a cute crib! I am also so, so obsessed with the wallpaper accent wall and how it turned out. We ended up hiring someone to put it up for us because it is classic wallpaper that needed to be pasted to the wall, and I wasn’t about to attempt that myself. Her room also gets the best natural light, it really is just a happy, light, and airy room. What do you guys like most about the room? Eventually I will hang the wooden sign up, once I find a few more things I want to commit to hanging up! What are some ideas I could add? Let me know!

Room and Remi Update with Serena & Lily

Hi all! I thought I would pop on here to document a little about Remi, as she turns 3 months on Thursday! I also wanted to showcase this beautiful jute rug from Serena & Lily. I am ultimately going to use it in Remi’s room…but I ended up ordering a new crib for her so that won’t be ready for another few weeks. I decided to put it in Saylor’s room for the time being, and it is going to be hard to move it out, haha…I love it!

Cute Remi is starting to fill out. It is funny having a long, skinny baby because Saylor was always so chubby! The last week or so she has been a little bit easier, and if you have been following us, you know that she has been a hard baby! She naps fairly well during the day, but during the night she wakes up every 2-3 hours. Yikes. She is a great nurser and is getting super smiley and discovering new noises and sounds.

I have never had a round rug before, and I can honestly say I love it! It really adds dimension to the room, and the texture and pattern is so beautiful. You can tell just by looking at this rug that it is great quality, and the natural jute is braided by hand. I can’t wait to see it in the finished nursery. I really love the difference rugs can make to any rooms.

I am excited to share that Serena & Lily is offering 15% off to my readers! Use code RUGLOVE-RM, valid for one week only. Be sure to check them out and grab a new, beautiful rug for your home!

Olive Green Goodness

Happy Thursday, everyone! This week has been so long and very eventful, I am glad it is almost over. We decided to buy a new couch, sell our old one and a couple of chairs, have a backsplash put up & a new light fixture in our dining room…all spur of the moment decisions, and all while Remi has been not sleeping and fussy. I’m starting to wonder if she is a little colicky, but that is a post for another day.

The weather has been SO hot and humid here lately, so honestly I haven’t been going out much! It doesn’t help that Remi hates her carseat, and I don’t shower 50% of the time…haha #momlife. When it isn’t too hot, we like to go on a little walk around the neighborhood. I actually think Remi enjoys the warm weather and that it relaxes her.

I love this light weight (nursing friendly!) top from Shop By Beck. It happens to be my favorite color, too! Notice how tan Say is compared to me…this girl spends ALL DAY long outside playing with neighbor friends.

How cute is Remi? She will be 2 months in a few days and I can’t believe how tiny she still is! Completely different than Saylor was, so it has been fun to see their differences.

I love love love the bassinet feature of this stroller…it is so comfortable for Remi and she really likes it. You can shop the stroller HERE.

Getting Back Into Shape with Flex Society

…maybe. Hahah.

Okay hear me out. I know I have said time and time again that I am going to start working out and get back into shape, but this time I really am holding myself to it! I think for my sanity alone, I need to “just do it” (no pun intended). I don’t know when I lost my affinity for working out, but I suppose it was sometime between the ages of 21-24. So a long, long time ago! Growing up I was so active and athletic, and I even feel like I’m so uncoordinated now. I don’t know what the heck happened, but it is going to change! And I want/need you to help hold me acocuntable.

When I was pregnant with Remi I knew after she was born, I wanted to start working out in some way. I am not a fan of traditional gyms…you would have to cut my arm off to get me to leave my babies in the daycare to go workout. The horror! (No offense here people! I would rather stay at home and just not, haha.) I was looking into different at home type programs, but there are so many, I honestly didn’t know where to start or what I really was even looking for.

Plug Flex Society.

Just what I was looking for. It is a fitness program geared toward those who only have a few spare moments (hello, MOM’s, ME) to workout. All workouts can be done in 20 minutes or less, and there are 2 versions of the workouts, a light & advanced, so no need for equipment! Each day you get a new fat burning and toning workout sent to your phone. The workouts target specific body parts, but also works the full body for optimal fat burning. All the workouts can be done anywhere, anytime. You can do them at the gym if you’re into that, or at home (or even the park while Saylor plays) like I am into! The cost is only $15 per month. So much more affordable than other programs out there. That works out to about 50 cents a workout. This is also cheaper than any gym membership! You can also find out more on their IG at @flex.society.

I imagine many workouts will be done here. In my bedroom, next to my sleeping baby. I am going to try really hard to do what I can, but to do something for myself every day.

Now for the fun stuff. The gear! If I am going to start working out, I probably need some cute new workout clothes right?

Look how cute these Nike’s are! I could workout in these. V affordable, too.

Honestly if someone wants to buy me THIS whole setup, I will make you a batch of cookies hah! Lmk if you need my shipping address and size.

Anyways, I hope you join me on my fitness journey with Flex Society, and definitely check them out! It would be fun to create a group of us to hold each other accountable and do this together! Let me know if you are interested in that!

Momsense

As a new mom again, I’m learning about all sorts of new baby companies. Companies with products I had no idea that I needed. You NEED so much stuff as a Mom! If you are nursing or have nursed before, you understand me when I say that I worry if my baby is getting enough. With Saylor, I took measures to ensure I was (over) producing, because I didn’t want to starve my baby! This time around I understand my body a little bit better, but how are you ever sure that your baby is getting enough?

One of my friends told me about Momsense…this handy little gadget that lets you listen while your baby nurses, then sends you information to your smart phone on your nursing session. It records the baby swallowing, lets you know how long they nurse for, and the quantity consumed on each side. You hook it up to your phone and everything is kept track of on their app. It is so simple, and really helps put your mind at ease.

Momsense is on sale for a killer price right now, only $49. It is normally $89 so it really is a good deal. I highly recommend this product, especially if you are wanting to know how much your baby has nursed!

I feel like this blog took me 18 hours to write up and post…I am THAT tired. 3 weeks of only getting 5ish hours of sleep is finally catching up to me! I’m not (really) complaining haha, I just forgot what it was like to not get good sleep! I know it won’t last forever so I am really trying to appreciate those quiet, middle of the night moments with Remi and I. Thanks for all your love and support and patience, being a Mom to more than 1 is no joke! Happy weekend!

On The Night You Were Born

As Remi gets close to 2 weeks old, I figured I better sit down and write out her birth story before #mombrain enters full effect. It seems so long ago already, and I can’t believe it has already came and went. I was beyond ready to not be pregnant, and I still can’t believe that I am not anymore! This post is for my own documenting purposes, and I hope that I don’t upset or offend anyone with my story.

So, rewind to about a month ago at my 38 week appointment. I was 3cm dilated and DONE. So uncomfortable, not sleeping, swollen, just ready to have this baby. I asked the midwife casually how long they would let me go over before they would induce me, and she says, “Oh…you have rights you know. Since this isn’t your first baby we can induce you a week early if you would like.” SAY WHAT?! That was music to my ears and just what I wanted to hear. I told her I would talk to my husband and see what he thought, and possibly even pick a day to be induced! What a dream! Lol. So I call Troy and we decide on Thursday, May 25th. That’s a good date. My half birthday, even. So they call me the night before and let me know that I am “on call” (whatever that means) until 10am, and if I don’t hear from them by then to call the hospital. 9:30am rolls around and I get the call! Be here at 10:30! It still didn’t feel real, even as we were walking up to the hospital it didn’t seem real that I was going to have a baby soon.

So by 11:30am I am checked into my room and speaking with the midwives. Pitocin was about to be started, and I chose to hold off on the epidural until things started progressing. I delivered at Mountain Point for those who live in Utah, and I HIGHLY recommend it. I had the best experience there, the hospital is beautiful, the nurses were amazing, and my midwives were awesome. I couldn’t have planned out a better experience. Anyways! Pitocin gets started and it’s pretty uneventful for a 2 hours or so. I think I progressed to a 4, maybe 5, and I was having a good rhythm of contractions, they just weren’t super painful. 3pm hits and I decide to get my epidural so they can break my water. I did not want to feel that! That all goes well, and then about 30 minutes later my blood pressure drops super low. Like 70’s over something. I wasn’t showing any symptoms thankfully, but they wanted to wait to break my water until that came up.

They break my water (they had to do it twice), and it was nothing like I expected. My water broke naturally with Saylor, so that is what I had to compare it to, but I didn’t even know they broke it haha. Epidurals are amazing. Highly recommend. I’m still not progressing as quickly as they’d like, so I’m rolling around and laying with things between my legs to try and get this baby to drop the last little bit.

Then probably around 8:30pm or so, I started getting the feeling! You know, the feeling like you need to poop, haha. I was trying so hard to hold it in because you feel like you have no control over your body and I was nervous about what is was doing. Luckily I didn’t poop, but that meant it was go time! The rest of the time and events are kind of a blur. The midwives and nurse came in and got everything ready to go, were talking to me about what I needed to do and whatnot. Troy was able to put gloves on and actually help deliver the baby which was really cool. Remi Rowe was born at 9:19pm after pushing through only a few contractions. She was able to lay on my chest for a good chunk of time before they took her and cleaned her off, and they delayed the cord clamping. I had such a wonderful experience with my midwives, I would highly recommend looking into having one if you haven’t before! Remi was healthy, so cute, and came out ready to nurse.

She was born COVERED in that white stuff…so weird! Saylor had hardly any so it was new to us.

She seemed so much smaller than Saylor was, even though it was only a few ounces. She wasn’t as swollen as Saylor and didn’t have as much hair. Her features are also smaller. She’s so cute!

Saylor coming to meet Remi is something I’ll never forget. She has been so excited to have a baby sister and was so excited that she was finally “out of my tummy”! She’s been so gentle and loving with her, it is so sweet.

We stayed 2 days in the hospital and went home around lunchtime on Saturday. I was anxious to get home and be in my own bed and space, but I almost didn’t want to leave the hospital, haha.

I am so glad sweet Remi has joined our family, and that Saylor has a sister. I love my little family and am so thankful for my happy and healthy girls!
